Blendtec Total Blender – Does It Work? New Customer Says: “Oh Yes!”
I ordered my Blendtec over two months ago now, but wanted to wait until I had enough experience to post a solid review. The LCD screen has helped me to keep track of how many cycles I’ve used (it just keeps a count as to how many times you’ve used the Blendtec… very useful.) And I’ve just reached about 90 this morning.
My Immediate Experience & Impressions:
This is a very professional blender. With other kinds of blenders that I’ve used in the past (including while I was working in a cafe,) the blenders would leave chunks of whatever we were blending. Not so with the Blendtec.
When you use the right setting (there are pre-programmed settings on the bottom of the Blendtec,) it will whip up anything into 100% smoothness. It’ll turn an Apple into apple sauce, and an orange into orange sauce… including the skin.
I’ve also heard that people say the Blendtec is really loud… and I don’t think so. It’s louder than a really cheap blender – I give them that – but with the pre-programmed buttons, you can click them once and walk away while it’s making the “loud” noise. Either way, Blendtec gets the job done so quickly that it’s really a non-issue for me. Personal opinion I guess.
If there are foods and veggies that you know you should be eating, but aren’t right now… The Blendtec might help with that. For example, my main use is to get more fruits and the like into my daily eating habits. It turns them into liquid, and makes amazing smoothies and other types of drinks. It really is ridiculous when you put it next to any other blender… Just make sure you don’t get your finger caught in there! lol
More About the Pre-Programmed Blendtec Buttons…
When you make your selection (and just choose what button you want to press, they are labeled,) there will be a small countdown on the LCD screen. Then you’ll hear the Blendtec start up, and change up the rotation speeds of the blades to make sure that it chops up everything in there. Very sophisticated. Especially since you just press it once and do something else for 30 seconds. I’ve only run into a problem once when doing this: Sometimes a small piece might evade the blades, but it’s not a big issue. Sometimes I just pour out the rest and put the last piece back in, or just do another cycle and it’ll fix itself.
Cleaning (Get the Blendtec JUST for this…)
Cleaning my Blendtec total blender is the absolute #1 easiest cleaning process I’ve ever had. Seriously, you take two things apart (the lid and the jar,) and clean that alone. That’s it. It doesn’t have 7 or even 10 different parts that you have to unscrew and tamper with.
A little bit of water, some soap, let the blades spin up a few times… and you’re done.
Summary / Ending Thoughts on the Blendtec Total Blender
I really do love this blender. I haven’t even explored some of the other things I can do with it, like making ice cream or turning ice into snow (that sounds like fun for the kids.) But here’s a breakdown of what I do like, and what I don’t like (Yes, as always, there are one or two things that I wish were different.)
What I Love About the Blendtec Total Blender:
-The one-push button. I put in my veggies or whatever I want blended, click the button, come back in 30-45 seconds… and enjoy it. So e-a-s-y.
-The quality of blending. Anything you put in there will quickly be whipped up. Anything.
-Very simple to clean and maintain
-Really simple to take apart (2 parts total if I didn’t mention that above)
-Multiple colors so it can fit into your kitchen nicely. It looks like a home blender just as much as a commercial one. They got the aesthetics down pat.
What I Don’t Like
-Once or twice I had to deal with a small piece not reaching the blades. But I found that I just put that piece back in quickly, or cut anything very large once or twice before putting it in. However, this might be my fault unfortunately. The manual does state that you should let frozen food sit for a few minutes before putting it in the Blendtec. I did it immediately. Oh well, I probably will still do it.
-There was one time that the Blender was a bit violent. I stuck around to make sure it didn’t erupt or something, but it was abnormally loud. Make sure you stay near it, or around the area, because you never know if it will make a mess in your kitchen.
Pricing Thoughts:
I knew how much it was when I first heard about the Blendtec in a very popular veggie book. It’s just one of those things where you pay for quality. I don’t think this is a con, but it’s certainly not a plus.
